Generalities:
The aim of this Competition is to promote worldwide exchange
and development of ballet education and training.
This Competition is hosted by the
The Jury, consisting of internationally recognized ballet
experts who are invited by the Organizing Committee, is in charge of the
selection and evaluation system. Decisions made by the Jury will be final.
A. Qualifications and Categories
1. The Competition is open to ballet students only. Those who
are, or have ever been professionals in ballet companies will be excluded.
2. Contestants are divided
into two categories.
Category A:
Students
born between
Category B:
Students
born between
Students of Category B age
may choose to compete in Category A.
B. Application Procedures
1. Application Dates: July
1st __
2. Applicants who pass the
video selection held by the Organizing Committee will receive an official
invitation from the Committee before
3. Applicants are required
to fill in the attached Application Form and send it together with following
additional documents:
[a] Identification certificate: photocopy
of either ID card, passport ID page or Residence Certificate.
[b] Two recent passport-style photos,
one stage photo.
[c] Video of minimum 3 minutes in
classical variation, DVD (preferable) or VHS.
[d] Letter of recommendation from
teachers at their School.
[e] A resume of ballet study
experience

C. Competition procedures
Category A:
Contestants may perform either Pas de
deux or Solo. Male
& female Contestants in Pas de deux will be scored respectively.
Round 1:
Pas de deux: One grand pas de duex
chosen from listed classical repertoire.
Solo: Two
variations from listed classical repertoire.
Round 2:
One
contemporary variation (max 7 minutes for Pas de deux, 4 minutes for Solo)
choreographed after the year 2000.
Round 3:
Pas de deux: One grand pas de duex from the listed classical
repertoire.
Solo: Two variations from listed classical
repertoire.
Please Note:
Variations
in Round 3 should not be the same as those performed in Round1.
Category B: Solo
Contestants only.
Round 1:
[a]
Class
One
classical class and one contemporary class are given by teachers designated by
the Organizing Committee.
[b]
One variation from listed classical repertoire.
Round 2:
One contemporary variation (max 3 minutes) choreographed
after the year 2000.
Round 3:
One variation from listed classical repertoire, which should
not be the same as that performed in Round 1.

Competition Schedule:
Sunday October 1st:
Registration before
Monday October 2nd:
classes and rehearsals, opening ceremony and performance.
Tuesday October 3rd:
classes and rehearsals, stage rehearsal, Round 1
Wednesday October 4th:
classes and rehearsals, stage rehearsal, Round 1
Thursday October 5th:
Round 2 [Semi-finals]
Friday October 6th: Round 3 [Finals]
Saturday October 7th: Gala
F. Prizes:
Category A:
First Prize
One
female & one male USD 3,500
each
Second Prize One
female & one male USD 2,500
each
Third Prize One female & one male USD 1,500 each
Category B: First Prize One
female & one male USD 3,000
each
Second Prize One female & one male USD 2,000 each
Third Prize One female & one male USD 1,000 each
One Chinese competitor
will be awarded the “Hua Xia Prize”
of USD2,000 scholarship to study at the
One competitor
will be awarded the “Jury Special Prize”
of USD800.
All finalists will receive a diploma from
the Organizing Committee.
The Jury has the right to award or
not award the prizes and make decision of sharing the prizes according to the
results of the finalists.
G. Music:
Contestants must supply the committee with all the
music on the first day of registration. The format can be CD or MD. It is safer
to have two copies. The name and citizenship of the contestant as well as the name
of variation must be marked on CD or MD. There must be one recording only per
CD or MD.
Contestants must ensure they have right to publicly
use and broadcast the recording of the music in the competition.
H. Clothing
& Stage:
Contestants will prepare fitted
practice clothes and performance costumes on their choice.
The stage is standard
professional theater stage with plastic floor. Competition rounds scheduled on
stage will take place under TV spotlights.
I. Travel
Insurance:
All participants must have their
own travel insurance covering any accidents or damages during their stay in

All the contestants are
obligated to perform in Gala performance without any payment.
K. Rights
of the Organizing Committee:
1.
The Committee has the right to arrange photography sessions, interviews,
broadcasts, videos and audio recordings and other activities for the contestants
without extra remuneration to said Contestants.
2.
All photographs, visual and audio-visual works all types of recordings of the
contestants’ performance and participation to the competition shall be the exclusive
property of the Organizing Committee. No visual or audio-visual recording of
the performance and participation to the competition may be made without the
Committee’s written authorization. The contestants are aware and agree that
such recordings may be used for commercial or promotional purpose.
3. The Organizing Committee also has
the ultimate right of interpretation in respect of any regulations or
provisions not mentioned above.
