Introduction

  In 2016, the first edtion of China-CEEC Arts Cooperation Forum was successfully held in Beijing. During the forum, with the strongly support from Ministries of Culture in Both China and CEE Countries, Beijing Dance Academy and representatives of dance art institutions from 18 CEE countries signed the Declaration on the Establishment of China-CEEC Dance Culture Union, marking the official establishment of the Union. To date, the Union has a membership of 34 dance art institutions from 16 countries including higher education institution for dance and also dance festivals. The work of the Union was included in the Budapest Guidelines for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries, the Sofia Guidelines for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries, and the Dubrovnik Guidelines for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries signed by Premier Li Keqiang of China at the Summit of China-Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) in 2017, 2018 and 2019, respectively.

  Since its inception, a full variety of fruitful exchanges and cooperation events have been conducted under the framework of the Union, including annual meetings, exchange performances, joint choreography, faculty and student exchanges, master workshops, and dance summer camps. These have contributed to cultural exchanges between China and Central and Eastern European countries.
