At the invitation of the sponsor of the Bulgarian Dance Week Art Festival – ONE Foundation for Culture and Arts, a four-person delegation led by Guo Lei went to Bulgaria to participate in the Plenary Meeting of the China-CEEC (16+1) Union Dance Culture from October 15 to 18.

The two-day plenary session of China-CEEC Dance Culture Union was held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria’s oldest city. During the conference, participants completed the agenda of electing council members, electing the chairperson of Central and Eastern European member states, voting the admission of new members, discussing exchanges and cooperation programs in the next 3-5 years within the Union framework, etc. Fruitful discussions were conducted on art creation, art exchanges, talent cultivation, participation in the European Capital of Culture Plovdiv 2019 event, etc. Mr. Boil Banov, Deputy Minister of Culture of Bulgaria; Ameliya Gesheva, Vice Mayor of Plovdiv in charge of culture affairs; Guo Lei, President of the Union and President of Beijing Dance Academy; and Assen Assenov, Director of Bulgarian ONE Foundation for Culture and Arts, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

The Ministry of Culture of China and the Beijing Municipal People’s Government held the China-CEEC Arts Cooperation Forum 2016 at Beijing Garden Expo from May 8 to 14, 2016. Many leaders and experts including Guo Lei attended the forum and delivered keynote speeches. During the period, under the initiative made by the Ministry of Culture of China, Beijing Dance Academy signed the Statement on the Establishment of China-CEEC Dance Culture Union with 18 dance culture and art institutions from 14 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, marking the official establishment of China-CEEC Dance Culture Union.
