On the morning of November 27, a delegation of 16 led by Ms. Maja Gojković, president of the national assembly of Serbia, visited the Beijing Dance Academy and met with Mr. Wang Xudong, Party Secretary of BDA. The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Zhang Wei, Deputy Inspector of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the General Office of the NPC Standing Committee.

　　Mr. Wang Xudong briefed the delegation on BDA, as well as the close partnership the academy has built with Serbia over recent years. For example, the Belgrade Dance Festival, whose president visited BDA in May this year, formally became a member of the BDA-initiated China-CEEC Dance Culture Union. At the invitation of the Belgrade Dance Festival, BDA will send Geng Weijie, a graduate student, to a Ballet School in Belgrade for a one-year program as a ballet instructor. Currently, a delegation from the Department of Chinese Ethnic and Folk Dance is in Belgrade for an exchange visit to KOLO Ensemble from Belgrade. And in January next year, Fen Mo performance by the Department of Chinese Classical Dance, as part of the Ministry of Culture’s “Happy Chinese New Year” touring project, will tour 3 Serbian cities. 

The Serbian delegation observed classes of fundamental dance skills of Chinese Classical Dance and Ballet before arriving at the Salon Stage for a ballet performance presented by BDA’s Ballet Department and the ballet dancers from the Affiliated Secondary School of BDA. The performance won warm applause and praises from the delegation. Ms. Maja Gojković said it was a great pleasure for her to view such an excellent performance at BDA. She warmly welcomed the Chinese classical dance Fen Mo from Beijing Dance Academy  to perform in the Serbian capital Belgrade in next January and expressed her wish to see it in person.

At the invitation of Mr. Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress, Ms. Maja Gojković, led a delegation to visit China from November 25 to December 1. She met with Mr. Zhang Dejiang and Mr. Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference respectively at the Great Hall of the People.
