Date of issue:2021-07-28
1.Brief Introduction:
National Dance Theatre Budapest has been serving the Huagarian culture since 2001. National Dance Theatre Budapest is an institution directed by Mr Peter Ertl since January 1, 2013. The building of the Theater is a brand new and well-equipped building constructed in 2019. It has a Main Auditorium with 368 seats and a Small Auditorium with 120 seats. The main task of the National Dance Theatre Budapest is to represent the Hungarian dance art promoting it both nationally and internationally. As a hosting theatre, the institution works together with around 40 Hungarian professional theatrical/dance companies in all genres from folk dance to classical ballet, from comtemporary dance to interactive children's theatrical productions. Hungarian folkdance and international folkdance, such as flamenco, tango or Indian dance are also represented. National Dance Theatre Budapest intends to keep up the audience's interest by performing a variety of genres, normally with approximately 400 performances annually, and the annual number of the audience visiting the performances is around 100,000. The National Dance Theatre Budapest aims to create new dance productions in cooperation with Hungarian professional dance companies. It intends to ensure that the representatives of the Hungarian professional dance scene have as many possibilities to perform abroad, also through projects, co-productions or guest-performances. The National Dance Theatre organizes its annual festival called Budapest Dance Festival every year. Besides a wide range of Hungarian professional dance companies, the Festival also presents renowned and famous international professional dance companies from all around the world.

3.Most Interested Field of Cooperation:
The National Dance Theatre Budapest has the intention to build up cultural exchanges between China and Hungary, such as inviting Chinese dance companies to perform in the building of National Dance Theatre Budapest, especially in the frameworks of the Budapest Dance Festival. At the same time, the National Dance Theatre Budapest has the will to mediate representatives of the Hungarian professional dance scene to perform in China. We would be happy to establish cooperation with Shanghai International Dance Center (we are in contact with Sabrina Chen Li, Deputy General Manager&programme Director of the Institute). We would also be happy to delegate Hungarian artist-masters/pedagogues (choreographers) to Chinese Dance Educational Institutions, such as to Dance Colleges or Dance Universities as a guest master/pedagogue to teach classical ballet, modern dance, art-jazz, contemporary, or world-folk dance such as flamenco, but also with pleasure Hungarian folk dance. We would be also happy to mediate Hungarian choreographers to Chinese professional dance companies or Dance Educational Institutions, such as to Dance Colleges or Dance Universities.
