Northeast Normal University, founded in 1946, is one of the first national “211 Project” key universities. The school has 22 colleges (departments), 81 undergraduate majors, 23 first-class disciplines of doctoral degree program, 37 first-class disciplines of master degree’s program, 1 doctoral degree authorized unit and 22 master degree authorized unit, and 23 post-doctoral research mobile stations. Since its establishment more than 70 years ago, Northeast Normal University has formed a distinctive school-running feature of “serving basic education” and is known as “the cradle of people’s teachers”.

The Dance Department of Northeast Normal University was founded in 2000. It began to recruit master’s students in 2007. In 2011, it was approved as a doctoral program, and in 2019 it was approved as a first-level post-doctoral research station in Music and Dance, and in the same year, its dance choreography was selected as one of the first national first-class majors. Since its establishment, the dance department of Northeast Normal University has paid attention to the creative practice of original works, promoted the improvement of the overall innovation ability of the team, and successively launched a series of excellent original works that have a wide impact at home and abroad, and won many awards in domestic dance competitions. On the basis of returning to the dance itself, the Dance department of Northeast Normal University strives to deeply understand history and pay close attention to reality. In the selection and exploration of themes, the concise promotion of content and the exploration and innovation of forms, it constantly achieves new breakthroughs and self-transcendence, forming a creative style of dancing with conveying feelings through dance. The creative concept of seeking innovation and change makes the team always full of vigor and vitality, and its creative practice is reputed as “Northeast University Dance Phenomenon”, which has been highly praised by peers in the industry and received warm social response.
