On October 24, sponsored by Beijing Dance Academy and organized by BDA’s Center for Dance Teaching and Practice, International Office and Department of Ballroom Dance, the 2018 China-CEEC International Ballroom Dance Competition was successfully held in Ditan Sports Center. As always, the competition is a great opportunity to discover outstanding ballroom dance talents, encourage young students, and promote the prosperity of ballroom dance. It also serves to deepen exchanges between China and 16 Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) in the field of ballroom dance, fostering sound people-to-people bond for the sustainable development of China-CEEC cooperation.

　　

　At 8: 30 a.m., the competition officially began. The organizing committee invited 26 experts from different academies and schools to sit on the judging panel, and Jason Roditis from Greece as an international judge, in a bid to fully ensure the fairness and authority of the competition. The competition was divided into 19 groups, including ballroom dance international group, Latin dance international group, ballroom dance youth group A, Latin dance youth group A (under 16 years old), ballroom dance decathlon group, etc. The final round was an innovation, as contestants competed with their self-chosen works for independent choreography.

At 19: 30 that night, modern group dance “Waltz” and Latin group dance “Adventure Drift” brought by the Department of Ballroom Dance of the Beijing Dance Academy kicked off the evening and won warm applause from the audience.

President Guo Lei, Deputy Secretary of BDA Party Committee Liu Lan, Vice Presidents Zhang Qiang and Deng Youling, Deputy Secretary General of the Chinese Dancers Association Xia Xiaohu and other guests attended the event. The event was also joined by Dean of the Department of Ballroom Dance Han Meiling, Party Branch Secretary Ruan Wei,  Deputy Dean Zou Yang, among other teachers and students of the department.

Deputy Secretary of BDA Party Committee Liu Lan addressed the audience. She fully affirmed the role of the competition as a grand gathering of world dance artists, which has narrowed the distance between Beijing Dance Academy and dance institutions of other countries in the world and promoted the exchange and development of dance cultures of various countries.

The students of the Affiliated Secondary School of BDA delighted audience with the performance of group dance“Moon Night” and the Dance School of Beijing Huajia University presented “The Avengers” , bringing the competition to a successful conclusion. 　

The successful holding of the China-CEEC International Ballroom Dance Competition will help promote artistic exchange and cooperation between China and CEECs, further improve the performance, art creation, education and teaching of ballroom dance. In the future, Beijing Dance Academy will capitalize on its own advantages, closely follow the development of international dance education, further strengthen international exchange and cooperation in a bid to contribute to even more prosperous dance culture in the world.
