Folk dance by Beijing Dance Academy is performed at “China-CEEC Arts Cooperation Forum”

    On the evening of May 10, over 100 students enrolled in 2013 and ’14 of Beijing Dance Academy Chinese Ethnic & Folk Dance Department put in a special high-quality performance of Chinese folk dance with profound heritage and distinctive style for a dozen artists and representatives of art institutions from central and eastern European countries at the “China-CEEC Arts Cooperation Forum”.

    As an epitome of representative traditional song and dance of all ethnic groups in China, this performance showcases China’s unique history and culture and age-old civilization. The programs of the performance include: “Spring Pageant Music”, Korean agriculture-themed music dance; “Dage Dance”, traditional song and dance by Weishan Yi ethnic group, Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province; “Fanpai wooden drum dance” by Taijiang County, Qiandongnan Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou; “Kara Jorga” by Kazakhs in Altay Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region; “Duiyijiao” by Qiang People in Maoxian County, Sichuan; “Sawuerdeng” by Mongolian Oirat Tribe in Xinjiang; and “Dolan Meshrep” in Makit County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

    The colorful folk dances exhibit the rich and diverse culture and art of various Chinese nationalities, as well as the awareness of teachers and students of Beijing Dance Academy to carry forward traditional culture and arts. “Every form of beauty has its uniqueness. Beauty represents itself with diversity and integrity.” With the pure feelings and melodious singing, teachers and students of Beijing Dance Academy presented the unique charms of traditional music and dance of various Chinese nationalities for domestic and foreign artists present. The audience was thrilled by the performances, and took the stage for group photos with the actors. Audience gave thunderous applause in recognition of the first-class education and caliber of teaching by Beijing Dance Academy.
