    The signing ceremony of the Statement on the Establishment of China-CEEC Dance Culture Union took place at the hall on the first floor of the comprehensive building of our Academy on the afternoon of May 12. Beijing Dance Academy’s Party Secretary Wang Xudong and President Guo Lei attended the signing ceremony. Zhang Haizhou, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality; Lyu Xianfu, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture; Wang Jun, Director of the Sports Health and Art Education Division of Beijing Municipal Education Commission; Guan Xin, Deputy Director of the Eurasian Division of the Ministry of Culture’s Bureau for External Cultural Relations; Li Yulin, Deputy Director of the Exit-Entry Administration Division of Beijing Foreign Affairs Office; Wang Dewen, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and other leaders were invited to attend and witness the signing ceremony. The ceremony was chaired by Xu Rui, Dean of the Academic Affairs Office and Dean of the Dance Department of the School of Humanities of Beijing Dance Academy.

    Wang Xudong delivered a welcome speech for guests from all over the world on behalf of the teachers and students of the Academy. Wang said that in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative concept, the China-CEEC Dance Culture Union will surely foster bilateral cooperation in the field of dance art and tap the potential of art in the course of cultural exchanges. Beijing Dance Academy hopes to create an important sharing platform for China and Central and Eastern European countries, promotes matchmaking of needs for concrete and pragmatic projects, and carries out people-to-people exchange events with profound significance to lay a firm foundation for cooperation between China and central and eastern European countries in dance art and even cultural and artistic exchanges, and promote cultural exchanges between China and Central and Eastern European countries to a new height.

    In the presence of all parties, Guo Lei, together with representatives of 18 art institutions from 14 Central and Eastern European countries including Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia, signed the Statement, which marked the official establishment of China-CEEC Dance Culture Union.

    China-CEEC Dance Culture Union is established to build partnership and an exchange platform for the dance circles in China and Central and Eastern European countries to bring into play the strengths and initiative of the Union members, integrate and share resources, and promote bilateral exchange and cooperation, mutual learning and common progress in the field of dance.

    Beijing Dance Academy will make full use of the Union to conduct international communication, bring an international perspective to the Academy, and work to become a world-class dance university. At the same time, Beijing Dance Academy will work to realize routine and institutional exchanges for dance culture and artistic cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries, and foster friendly exchanges between the peoples of China and Central and Eastern European countries.
